Trauma-Informed Counseling in Athens, GA
Helping people heal from trauma, manage anxiety & depression, strengthen relationships, and move toward growth and wellness.

Life can feel overwhelming—whether you’re managing constant anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or feeling stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change. You may be high-functioning on the outside while internally struggling with OCD, rumination, or medical anxiety, or you may feel emotionally exhausted, shut down, or impacted by past trauma in ways that make daily functioning difficult. You might also be navigating grief, depression, relationship challenges, or a general sense of emotional distress that’s hard to put into words. Wherever you are in that range, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
As a therapist in Athens, GA, I work with adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma, and related concerns. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can better understand what you’re experiencing while also learning practical tools to move forward. Together, we focus on reducing distress, improving emotional regulation, and creating meaningful, lasting change.
With nearly 20 years of experience, I’ve supported individuals through a wide range of challenges, including trauma (PTSD), OCD, medical anxiety, chronic worry and rumination, depression, grief, relationship issues, and broader emotional distress. I work from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) frameworks and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach for trauma treatment. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT) therapist.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and tailored to your needs. Some clients come in feeling stuck in cycles of overthinking, avoidance, or fear, while others feel depleted, disconnected, or unable to function the way they once could. Our work may involve processing trauma, addressing patterns of rumination or compulsive thinking, navigating grief or relationship dynamics, or helping you regain a sense of stability and control in your day-to-day life.
As someone who identifies as neurodivergent, I bring both professional and lived understanding to working with neurodivergent individuals. I strive to create a space that respects your unique experiences, values, and identity, and I will adapt our work to fit what is most effective for you.
If you’re looking for anxiety, trauma, or depression therapy in Athens, Georgia, I would be honored to support you. Change is possible—with the right support, you can begin to feel more grounded, capable, and connected in your life.

Receiving invaluable warmth and empathy during my own experience of therapy inspired me to give back to others the same compassion. My approach is eclectic & collaborative; incorporating the Biopsychosocial-Spiritual model, trauma theory, and non-pathologizing internal family systems (IFS) informed parts work with the goal of empowering the client to discover their own healing.
I use my education, training, humor, & warmth to help clients process the difficult emotions that follow traumatic experiences. In addition to working with adults, I provide services to teens (ages 12+) drawing on the experience I gained during my three years as a counselor for Greene County, Georgia’s school district.
I have earned the designation of Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Grief Informed Professional through my acquisition of skills in trauma interventions like EMDR, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga, & IFS informed parts work. Additionally, I have expertise providing services to those with neurodivergence drawing upon learned theoretical
concepts & my own practical experience as a neurodivergent person.
Reaching out for help is a courageous act and I would be honored to empower you on your healing journey.
Trauma Sensitive Restorative Yoga
As a means of survival during traumatic events the mind-body connection is severed. This disrupted connection compromises the development of one’s identity, autonomy, & ability to perceive internal sensations (interoception). Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY) is a movement based practice that aims to reconnect & fortify the mind-body connection. TSY does this by using invitational language to create opportunities for choice and provides a safe space for shared authentic experiences.

Yoga for Neurodivergence
Current research suggests that there is a correlation between neurodivergent disorders (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc.) and certain physiological abnormalities such as joint hypermobility, connective tissue irregularities, and heightened pain sensations. These physical maladies often result in the over-use of certain muscles and the under utilization of others as a way to adapt to the compromised integrity of the connective tissues. Yoga for neurodivergence is a class engineered to provide support to over utilized muscles & strength to those that are underdeveloped, all while creating a shared authentic experience in a group setting to facilitate connection & belonging.

You may be someone others rely on—at work, in your family, or in your relationships—while quietly carrying stress, grief, or experiences that have never had space to be processed. Over time, this can lead to feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or unsure how to move forward. I provide a space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin to make sense of what you’ve been carrying. I work with children and adults:
I also support parents and caregivers seeking guidance in understanding and responding to their child’s emotional or behavioral needs. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who are used to functioning under pressure but have had limited space to process their own experiences.
I believe that healing happens in a space where you feel both supported and understood. I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and respect for your experiences, while also helping you gently explore patterns, challenges, and opportunities for growth. My background in quality improvement and clinical care allows me to be intentional and thoughtful in how I support you—ensuring that our work together is both meaningful and aligned with your goals.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to managing things on your own. If you’re ready to begin—or even just considering it—I welcome the opportunity to connect and see if this feels like the right fit for you.
